My only 4 fashion laws for guys

I consider myself, not a great dresser. I know that have and will never set a fashion trend of any sort. But I was asked recently if I have any pet peeves in fashion, and, well, I do. Only 4 of them, and they are my opinion alone. So please, don't think I need you to live by them. And the reason I only have 4 is because I am utterly clueless outside of these 4.

1. guys never wear a jersey unless you are a member of a team (unless you are 13 or younger or also in the event you have a hip hop recording deal with Def Jam Records)

2. Even if you are on that team, never wear a jersey to church (once again, unless you are 13 or younger or also in the event you have a hip hop recording deal with Def Jam Records)

3. If you wear socks with sandals, make certain its a halloween costume.

4. If you won jean shorts, throw them away, they are hideous. These are only acceptable if you happen to be Patrick Duffy from Step by Step or also, once again, a halloween costume.

so these are my only 4. And yes, they are ridiculous. You may and most likely do disagree with me, but please, no comments or e-mails about a flaw in my woredrobe, because most likely, I agree with you.

This kind of describes my relationship with Jesus most of the time

This is a Chris Rice song that is a bit old, but it has always hit me. Its called "Clumsy". Here are the lyrics.

You think I’d have it down by now
Been practicin’ for thirty years
I should have walked a thousand miles
So what am I still doin’ here
Reachin’ out for that same old piece of forbidden fruit
I slip and fall and I knock my halo loose
Somebody tell me what’s a boy supposed to do?

I get so clumsy
I get so foolish
I get so stupid
And then I feel so useless
But You’re sayin’ You love me
And You’re still gonna hold me
And that You wanna be near me
‘Cause You’re makin’ me holy
You’re still makin’ me holy, yeah

I’m gonna get it right this time
I’ll be strong and I’ll make You proud
I’ve prayed that prayer a thousand times
But the rooster crows and my tears roll down (again)
Then You remind me You made me from the dust
And I can never, no never, be good enough
And that You’re not gonna let that come between us

I get so clumsy
I get so foolish
I get so stupid
And then I feel so useless
But You’re sayin’ You love me
And You’re still gonna hold me
And that You wanna be near me
‘Cause You’re makin’ me holy
You’re still makin’ me holy, yeah

From where I stand
Your holiness is up so high I can never reach it
My only hope is to fall on Jesus

I get so clumsy
I get so foolish
I get so stupid
And then I feel so useless
But You’re sayin’ You love me
And You’re still gonna hold me
And that You wanna be near me
‘Cause You’re makin’ me holy
You’re still makin’ me holy, yeah

Here is a video of Jason Castro singing it at his church. See if it hits you at all.

The Big Ten and the Buckeyes.

First off, i never got negative last night. I did well, and i am surprised. I know Pryor isn't at all there as a passer yet, but they had a ton of heart, and i am proud to be a buckeye today.

As for this new trend of calling the Big Ten overrated. And i promise, i am being positive in defending something i love when saying this.

exactly who is rating them so high? all people ever say is the big ten is overrated, but if everyone thinks they aren't any good, how can you call them overrated.

And further more, name a good conference. The Pac 10 wins bowls games, sure, but got thumped by the mountain west 7 times this year. The ACC is lousy, the Big East is lousy (although i love UC, but c,mon)

The onle two good teams in the SEC this year were supposedly Bama and Florida. I will give you Florida, although an elite team does lose on its home field to Ole Miss, but Bama? Who did they beat? They had basically a home game against Utah, and LOST.

now the big 12. No defense exists in that conference.
Missouri went into OT against the 2nd worst team in the Big 10 in Northwestern.

Oklahoma State got thumped by Oregon, lol.

Texas Tech gave up 47 points and lost to Ole Miss, a lousy SEC offense.

Texas scores 60 against big 12 teams, plays OSU TD every drive down the field.

And as for thursday, Oklahoma will lose by 30. Bob Stoops loses to Boise State one year, and the next to a horrible West Virgina team who's coach just left, and people want to dog Jim Tressell for losing to the #1 team every year?

I am not at all saying OSU is an elite team this year, because they aren't. There isnt a solid team in the Big Ten, i promise you that.

But exactly what conference do you NOT consider overrated?

A recent thought..

While i am not a fan of pop music, Jason Mraz is wonderful.

His new album is amazing, as was all of his older one's (which i never owned, but my roommate did)

New album tracks that are, wow:

Live High - a great expression of what it means to be a Christian, although not certain if he meant it to be.

Lucky - a great representation of how a real mature relationship begins.

I'm Yours - Played way too much on the radio, but a sweet track nevertheless.

I think I love Mraz because i've always loved acoustic over electric for the most part. I am one who says that Dylan was 1/2 the artist once he picked up the electric guitar. Plus i think Mraz reminds me of Jason Gray, who if you haven't heard you need to go buy his new album "Acoustic Storytime" you will not be disappointed.

Progress on Fast

So it is day 9(yes i know, i said day 7 yesterday in church, i was mistaken) on my 30day fast from negativity, and it is getting easier. Being positive is becoming the habit in my life for the 1st time in a long time. God is changing my outlook on life, and this is, cool. The only thing i am a bit worried about is the Buckeyes play in yet another big game tonight. Now, i think they are going to win, i honestly do. I think they match-up really well with Texas. But i know that there is a good chance i might get disappointed again. So i am hoping that things hold well after tonight still, win or lose.

Other things, really good new years for me. Got to spend it with the Vances, and that is always fun. Also got to spend alot of time with Emily and Gretchen, which is good, because in the life of a pastor, you rarely get to see your family like you would hope to. I think its been good to see them. And Em is doing an amazing job with this pregnancy, twins make it tough, but i think she is going to be okay though. They are measuring perfect, and wonderful heartbeats. Thus far, things are great.

Other than that, i will just be keeping you posted. To all of you South Side people, make sure you dont miss January 17th, the Saturday Night Service at South Side. It will be off the hook (okay, not sure why i would use a 1996 term that i didnt even use in 1996, but, dah well).
